Pore Perfect Challenge: 1 Month Update
I was very skeptical when I started this challenge. Reducing pore size is notoriously difficult without adding in major extractions (if needed and most of us do). And with that doubt ever present in my mind I decided to try out the whole regimen.
Cleanser: Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser
Exfoliant: Multi-Perfecting Detoxifying Exfoliator
Concentrate: Multi-Perfecting Pore Corrector Concentrate
Moisturizer: Multi-Perfecting Pore Corrector Gel Moisturizer
Primer: Pore Corrector Anti-Aging Primer
*I did use my Clarisonic (Mia 2)
Sadly, the first thing I noticed was the cleanser smelled exactly like baby formula vomit and the scent did not wash off. *Shudder* Eventually I quit the cleanser and replaced it with Murad’s AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser.
The exfoliant felt good. It was a twice a week treatment and had a heavy grit but was suspended in a moisturizing cream which left the skin impressively smooth until it was time for the next application. I because of the heavier grit I switched my Clarisonic speed to low as to not over do the resurfacing. I did notice an improvement on my acne but not much on my white bumps (milia).
The Multi-Perfecting Pore Corrector Concentrate was nice. I was worried it was going to be sticky as so many pore correcting products are but this one was thin and almost silky. It absorbed quickly into the skin leaving it still feeling fresh and untouched. Since the concentrate is where change happens I was diligent about using it.
With the Multi-Perfecting Pore Corrector Gel Moisturizer again, I was hesitant. I didn’t know if a gel was going to offer enough moisture for me; leaving me using more product and thus having to purchase more which we all know as the Lazy Therapist, I am not okay but, surprisingly, it did give my skin what it needed. Over all I was really pleased with the moisturizer regardless of its claims.
I was reluctant to add the primer simply because I didn’t really know if it would do anything more than any other primer. I decided I would sample it under the thought that it had desirable ingredients and was still close enough to the skin where those ingredients could offer some benefit.
So how’d we fair? Over all in the first week and a half my skin looked and felt smoother. By the third week my skin felt fresher and the tone began to look more even. Encouraged by the rapid results I continued the regimen with a little more vigor and hope.
I’m on about a month and holy crap, my pores are diminishing in size and the roughness that clogged pores bring had smoothed out substantially. I’m continuing the challenge. I don’t expect the visibility of my pores to completely diminish but I am encouraged that the change will continue.
Return for my 2 month update!
